Hi ,

Can you charge a fee to your customers for everything that you do? Probably not, because not everything you do has quantifiable value. Everything that has no value is “waste,” and it’s not just unwanted material. Waste also can refer to lost time and resources. That is why waste reduction is a necessity in lean manufacturing practices. One way to reduce waste is to use advanced industrial analytics. Engineers can determine the root cause of a shutdown, learn to manage energy-intensive processes, monitor production in real time, and receive alerts on process anomalies with enough time to make corrections. In this issue of What’s Trending, we will look at waste management and how TrendMiner can empower engineers to make data-driven decisions for continuous improvement.
